The Design Process

The 2Scale Design team is grounded around gifted, progressive thinkers who bring reverence to our client’s initiatives. Celebrated for their refreshingly respectful approach to the needs and wishes of our clients. The team brings a welcomed sense of clarity and versatility to interior design. Our focus is on the full design experience: Development, Specification & Documentation, Merchandising, Purchasing, Project Coordination and Installation phases.

Development

Before we can share our design ideas, we need to know what our clients vision for the project is. Listening to our client’s needs and goals is a key first step. At this stage we focus on defining the project’s image and identity to ensure success.

We review the exterior architecture and space planning provided by the architect and from there, we begin to make recommendations. We start broad, using pictures and sketches of interior spaces to establish a general direction and theme. We will consult on every element from integrating management and operational concerns; to architectural requirements, exterior design elements and interior aspirations.

Specification & Documentation

Once the design package is presented, our focus shifts to specifying the exact materials and resources needed for all interior finishes and treatments. The result will be a prolific, comprehensive and organized package, combining detailed written documentation, and CAD drawings ( including plans, elevations and details). The process is designed to minimize construction estimating guesswork, costly change orders, coordination mistakes, and reduction of on site confusion; saving both time and money in the long run.

Merchandising

 We create settings that are not only functional and comfortable, but exciting and fun to be part of. Our merchandising techniques create a perception of lifestyle and character.

Purchasing

We ensure we never lose sight of the big picture. We handle all furniture, fixtures and equipment purchasing in-house. Detailed budgets are prepared, with quantities and prices of all proposed furnishings, fabrics and accessories. We monitor and plot the progress of every project from beginning to the end.

Project Coordination

Working the inception, we’re able to coordinate with the construction and management teams to establish all targeted installation dates well ahead of time. This also allows us to conduct periodic site visits and walk-throughs at various stages in construction to ensure compliance with our specification documents and to discover and prevent any potential problems that arise relating to the interiors.

Installation

We manage the billing, delivery, storage and installation of FF&E ourselves. We’re able to track the progress of the entire project as accurately and objectively as possible.  We understand the need for flexibility – whether construction teams move completion dates forward or backward, we’re ready.
